PRODUCTION - Problems Faced
During the stages of pre-production and production there were really no problems that were encountered, but when it came to post-production and editing, there were some challenges that was faced.
Premiere Pro:
This was the editing software they I had to use to edit the film project. It was the first time for me to use this and I had know idea in what I was doing. However, for help to create an actual I asked my seminar tutor for guidance along with tutorials on StudySpace. This was a great help as it started to make me feel at ease with the program.
For all the effects if that be video or audio, I had no idea completely in what to do. So, I used number of YouTube tutorials for help. This helped a lot as it showed me what to do and I felt that worked for me, as I was doing the action at the same time as the tutorial. Again the same for the audio, I watched YouTube to help bland and fade music's together for the project.

3) Planning - Audio
Below are all the sounds that we have used throughout the project. They are short clips of the sounds we used.

2) Planning - Title Cards
The project is going to be in a silent movie style, with some changes. Some of the clips will be in black & white, and others in colour, showing that some aspects of the film are more dramatic than others.
Also, another common convention in a silent movie that the project will consist of is title cards (image to left). This help further explain the actors mime or gestures, so the audience has more of a gist of what is happening in the film.

The image to the right shows the font style that the title cards will contain. The font is called "Apple Chancery". Its extended tails on letters link it back to when silent films first appeared in society, giving the project a historical feel on a modern day issue with mobile phones.

Research into Concept for Project
Research into Silent Movies
Research into Frankenstein Storyline
Frankenstein is a novel by Mary Shelley, which is about a montser created by a scientific experiment. When the montser was created at first it was friendly and childlike, but different encounters made it bitter and cruel. In the project we want to show the creation of a monster...through the use of a mobile, by showing old medias put into a box creating a mobile phone that starts of good but turns bad, linking the idea of the Frankenstein story.
Below is a short clip showing Frankenstein being created:
Silent Films have been highly popular since the late 1800s, and today are a break through in the film industry. The films common conventions consist of the sequence having no syncgronised sound, particularly dialogue. Although, for the films to get across a story gestures, titles and mime are used. The use of mime creates an entertainment feel...and in the project we want to put across a comical feel to show our proposal of how media effects the people consuming it. Also, the films are in blsck and white, mainly due to the age of the film, but this could add more emotion or atmosphere to the film. Alongside the gestures and titles, music plays an important role in a silent film. The audio adds the atmosphere to the film, giving it the overall feeling of comedy or tragedy making the film more engaging.
So for the project we plan o use the silent film style to show the story of the proposal.
Below is a short clip showing an example of the silent film style:

New Basic Ideas for Project
Above is a new spider diagram of the beginning of the projects new concept. Showing new ways to focus on the narrative and reach the target audience. Its keeping to the proposal, while taking a new twist...hopefully having a comical streak.

Presentation & Feedback on Clip
With all the knowlegde gained about techniques and programs to use for the product, we began to edit our film. It was stop-motion based, with dramatic music to tell the story of the effects with media technologies.
Some of the film was edited and we had to present our idea to the group, show what we were working on and why. Although, we got some feedback suggesting that the stop-motion technique wasn't really working alongside our proposal, some felt it was to staggered and blurry, not showing the full story clearly.
Also, some of the effects and video transitions didn't work well with the stop-motion style, as it made the clip long winded. And there was no music alongside the clip, which probably made it worse whren we were showing our idea. While, my peers felt that we should film our project as it would work better and make the proposal a lot clearer.
As a group we decided to scrap the stop-motion film and create another idea using film to make our proposal come across easier.

Using Illustrator - Grid Lines, Text & Shapes
In the Digital Media Foundations book, there was a beginners task on the programme Illustrator. It focused on how to use the grid lines and text, to create the image to the left, which in hope will help in the future for when I create my own narrative.
Firstly, on Illustrator when had to use the grid lines so that the other the bits of texts would fit into the image correctly and just purely look more professional. To access the grid lines you need to show the rulers and this be shown via the windows tab.
Next I had to use the 'line segment tool' to create the bold, black line. When drawn it comes out as a thin line, so when I clicked control on the line and it appeared with measurements of thickness and I selected 30pt. Then, I moved the line along to right a little, it also doesn't matter if things are placed in the area around your work, as when printed they won't be shown.
The process of using text on Illustrator is simply to use during this task, as all I had to do was select the 't' sign meaning text, and write in the word (grid systems). Also, the task allocated a certain font and sizing, which was simple to follow. Then, using 'option' button I could create some space between each of the letters. Also, I had to follow the rules and line everything up so that it looked better than being placed anywhere.
The same process of creating a text, etc, followed for the large amount of text. Where I had to use a certain font and size for this task. While also sticking to the guidelines of the rulers. Then, I had to use the 'direct selection tool' to remove the circle above the 'i' in the word grid to then replace it with a red square. This was done using the 'rectangle shape tool' and then filling it with the colour red, using the colour panel for that stage. After that I duplicated the shape and placed another one above the large amount of text, which together creates the image above, and the task is completed.

Signs & Meanings.
The task for the first lecture, was to go off in pairs and picture signs that we see everyday, and then state their meanings.
The images below shows signs and their meaning:
"The Bike"
Presenting a bike sign on the streets or roads of any place, tells people that a certain lane or section of the road is used for cyclists only. It's used to make the streets and roads a safer place for both cyclists, pedestrians and drivers, too make them all aware of each other.
"The P"
Road users know the sign of the letter 'P', as it states that someone wanting to park in a certain may have to pay too park. The 'P' is always a capital letter on a blue background, making noticeable for all too see.

"No Entry"
The No Entry sign is linked with road users, as it states to them that they are unable to enter a certain area, street or road. This is commonly see globally as it's so recognisable and many understand its meaning, especially due too the red circle with a white line.

"The Green & Red Man"
Many pedestrians in the world will know this common sign, as its linked to the roads when crossing. The red man standing indicates to people that its not their time to cross, almost like danger and the green man indicates that they are able to cross a road, with linking to the idea of "go".
"The Bin & Person"
This sign is becoming more known, as not only is it used on bins but is now being used on products. It clearly indicates to people that they should throw away their litter to create a cleaner society.
